Nukon’s advanced analytics solution is set to grace the world stage at PI World on April 23-27 in San Francisco.
As *OSIsoft’s premier User Conference, PI World attracts more than 1,000 attendees from around the globe to learn from industry leaders like Nukon.
Nukon will present the predictive blockage detection tool it built for Tasmania’s water utility, TasWater. The tool has far reaching applications for utilities, and other industrial operators, around the world.
Speaking on the topic of ‘smart sewer analytics’ Nukon Senior Consultant Andrew May will co-present with Matt Jordan, TasWater’s Manager of Network Asset Performance.
Solving a long-held industry challenge with smart analytics
A key challenge for this industry is managing sewer blockages and subsequent spills occurring in the mains system. Often the first notification of a spill comes from a member of the public, hours and sometimes days after the incident. This can intensify public health and environmental impacts, and drive up the cost of clean-up efforts.
Nukon leveraged historical data in TasWater’s OSIsoft PI System using an advanced analytics applications from technology partner *Seeq, (an OSIsoft Gold Sponsor and ISV).
Then, it delivered a proof-of-concept and solution: a sewer blockage detection model for the sewage pumping stations at Midway Point and surrounding areas.
The model gives TasWater the ability to avoid spill incidents by providing real-time early warning for field teams of statistically significant partial or full blockages in the sewer network.
“The solution has already demonstrated value in detecting abnormal operating conditions in the sewerage network trial area beyond the capability of previous methods,” Mr Jordan said.
“The solution is integrated with PI notifications for early alerting. This allows for fast time-to-insight on time-series data, reduced time spent in spreadsheets, and process improvements leading to better operating efficiencies,” Mr May said.
“We are excited that Seeq could contribute to a solution for TasWater. Nukon’s data-driven approach and the collaborative nature of their engagements with customers is a hallmark of their success, along with the creative use of our solutions,” observes Michael Risse, CMO and VP at Seeq.
The presentation will be Wednesday morning, April 25th, from 10:45 to 11:30 at Hilton Union Square, Water / Energy / Facilities track.
*Seeq® is a visual analytics solution for process manufacturing data. Seeq’s multiple applications empower users to rapidly investigate and share insights from data stored in enterprise data historians —such as Ignition, OSIsoft PI, Honeywell PHD, and GE Proficy—as well as contextual data sources such as SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. Process engineers, data scientists, plant managers, operations staff and other subject matter experts (SMEs) use Seeq to analyze and improve business outcomes.
*OSIsoft, a global leader in operational intelligence, delivers an open enterprise infrastructure to connect sensor-based data, operations and people to enable real-time and actionable insights. As the maker of the PI System, OSIsoft empowers companies across a range of industries in activities such as exploration, extraction, production, generation, process and discrete manufacturing, distribution and services to leverage streaming data to optimize and enrich their businesses.
